Instron, Norwood, Mass., has designed the Instron Torsion Add-On for simple simultaneous axial and torsional testing to ensure the performance of many consumer products, packaging, electronics, and medical devices. When it comes to developing new products in the medical device or electronics industry, ensuring product durability under bi-axial loading is crucial. Many companies isolate axial-only and torsional-only testing. However, by combining both tests, laboratories can decrease test time and speed up the product development process.
The device easily mounts to any new 594X or 596X instrument, or can be retrofitted in the field on existing frames. Adding torsion to 5900 machines enables simulation of real-world use of products, speeds up product development, and/or frees up lab space for existing 5900 and MT torsion users.
Laboratories that perform both axial-only and torsional-only tests on two separate machines can save laboratory space by adding torsion capabilities to their traditionally axial-only machine.
