ASB Industries, Barberton, Ohio, announces that it recently added a new plasma electric arc system to increase spray capacity in its new thermal spray production room, making it a multi-process-capable production area. Many ASB thermal sprayers are experienced in different processes, and keep all thermal spray tools and equipment in close proximity to the workpiece.
Key materials sprayed using the plasma electric arc system include ceramics such as aluminum oxide and chromium oxide, as well as other oxide materials for high-temperature and wear applications. Many times one component requires different materials, including a multi-layered thermal spray system.
The new equipment, as shown in the photo, is similar to ASB’s other plasma electric arc systems with hardware and software upgrades. Automated powder feeders adjust to process change to create a consistent flow for powder feeding that confirm data with visual displays. Electrical upgrade for the new equipment was required during the installation due to the rectifier requirements.
ASB Industries’ plasma electric arc spray coating processes utilize heat energy to reach the melting point of the chosen ceramic chemistry. This versatile system creates ceramic coatings that can protect components in even the most severe environments. Plasma spray coatings provide high temperature resistance, extreme wear resistance, and inert chemical resistance.
