Dr. Andre McDonald, Professor and Associate Chair-Research at the University of Alberta, the Lead Editor of the Journal of Thermal Spray Technology, Chairman of the Canadian Cold Spray Alliance, and the President of the ASM Thermal Spray Society, was named a Fellow of ASM International at the annual ASM Awards Banquet in October.
The award citation states, “For significant contributions in research and development of advanced thermal spray coatings, teaching and mentoring of young professionals, and service to the thermal spray community.”
In 1969, ASM established the Fellow of the Society honor to provide recognition to members for their distinguished contributions to materials science and engineering. Another goal was to develop a broadly based forum of technical and professional leaders who would serve as advisors to the society. The solicited guidance provided by the Fellows enables ASM to enhance its capability as a provider of relevant technical information to its community of materials scientists and engineers in the years ahead.
