Core processor could run on an AA battery

A new microchip contains 1000 independent programmable processors. The energy-efficient KiloCore chip has a maximum computation rate of 1.78 trillion instructions per second and contains 621 million transistors.

Quasicrystals are out of this world

Scientists have only found two quasicrystals on Earth. These super rare crystal-like solids have supposedly impossible symmetries. New experiments could explain why they’re so rare: Collisions between asteroids may have caused them.
