Rivers of Energy Inside the Sun
The Sun as You Have Never Seen It
This video features NASA videos of the Sun and a spectacular supercomputer simulation of the flow of hot plasma deep inside. As this flow reaches the Sun’s outer zones, it breaks down into complex swirls and loops. Rolling waves form that travel around the equator. All this action generates magnetic fields that transport energy to the surface. It was produced as part of the CADENS Project, the Centrality of Digitally Enabled Science, with partial funding from the National Science Foundation.
