Abstract Submission
Submit an abstract of 150–300 words, written in English, through our online abstract submission system. The user-friendly system allows you to save your work, return to edit your abstract, and submit it before the deadline.
Conference Paper Policies
Authors whose abstracts are accepted for the Heat Treat 2027 Technical Program will be encouraged to submit a full manuscript of 6–8 pages for consideration in the Heat Treat 2027 Conference Proceedings.
Important: A full manuscript is not required to present at Heat Treat 2027. Authors may participate as presenters without submitting an extended abstract or full manuscript.
The first draft of the manuscript is due May 21, 2027, with author feedback provided by June 21, 2027. Final manuscripts are due July 5, 2027.
Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance (JMEP)
Authors of high-quality, completed manuscripts may be invited to submit their work for consideration in a special Heat Treat focus issue of the Journal of Materials Engineering and Performance (JMEP).
If you are interested in this opportunity, please indicate your interest when submitting your abstract. Papers published in JMEP are available through SpringerLink and indexed by Google Scholar.
Fluxtrol Student Research Competition
Sponsored by Fluxtrol, Inc.
Heat Treat will offer a young innovative scientists/professionals’ competition-based award and recognition program, seeking to encourage participation of young scientists in the ASM Heat Treating Society, and to provide attractive offers and opportunities in the worldwide Thermal Processing community. We are soliciting abstract submissions based on thermal processing of metal/metal containing components for this competition. This is a 2-phase competition encompassing a poster competition, as well as an oral presentation competition for semi-finalists.
SPECIAL NOTE: students who wish to include a manuscript in the Heat Treat conference proceedings will need to adhere to the same (earlier) deadlines (below) as authors in the general Heat Treat technical program.
Prof. Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award
Sponsored by Fluxtrol, Inc.
The Professor Valentin S. Nemkov Academic Research Award recognizes outstanding academic research in induction heating, electromagnetic processing, and thermal processing of metals and metal-containing components. Open to Post-Doctoral Researchers, Lecturers, Professors, and Academic Researchers, the award encourages participation from academic institutions within the ASM Heat Treating Society (HTS) and the global materials and thermal processing community.
Researchers are invited to submit an abstract and indicate their interest in being considered for the award during the abstract submission process. The award recognizes excellence in research and provides support for continued research activities at the recipient’s institution.
