Lumenous Device Technologies, Sunnyvale, Calif., has developed Gloss nitinol wire, which eliminates or reduces the need for mechanical polishing and electropolishing, thereby streamlining the manufacturing process.
“Medical device makers need an array of options to optimize products and operations,” says Lumenous President Todd Dickson. “Gloss nitinol wire is an ideal way to reduce cost and variability by getting final-device finish in the raw material. Gloss nitinol wire reduces or eliminates extensive final-device finishing processes.”
Lumenous fabricates nitinol wire in its Peiertech facility, established in the Shanghai region of China. As an ISO13485-registered facility, all incoming raw materials undergo third-party inspection to ensure they meet proprietary internal specifications for chemistry, ingot transformation temperature, material homogeneity, and microstructure.
A trusted ISO13485 supplier, Lumenous continues to pioneer ultraprecision components for minimally invasive medical devices. The company’s expertise supports all phases of product development with laser micromachining, microwelding, electropolishing, forming, heat treatment, nitinol wire drawing, precision assembly, and design engineering for stents, heart valve frames, and flexible hypotubes.
