Makers of construction materials invest in Seco Warwick fire-resistance test furnaces

Seco Warwick, Meadville, Pa., reports that manufacturers of construction materials have recently invested in fire-resistance test furnaces to guarantee compliance with the strictest standards and regulations. Materials that meet these criteria are those that have successfully passed the tests in specially designed furnaces. Chamber furnaces for fire resistance testing are the optimal solutions for fire resistance materials used not only in construction, but also in the shipbuilding industry. Technical solutions for these material-specific tests are fully automated (controlled by PLC programmable logic controller) simulating the fire course.

The furnaces provide great flexibility in terms of adaptation to rapid and effective changes in the parameters of a given study. They have the ability to quickly and efficiently adapt to the type of study. They are equipped with viewfinders to observe the behavior of the test element inside the test chamber. The visualization, data archiving, and reporting system enable static and dynamic load simulation during fire tests.

“We use extensive experience and modern technologies in the production of laboratory furnaces for fire-resistance testing,” says Jarosław Talerzak, Vice-president, Thermal Products Segment, Seco Warwick. “It allows us to simplify the installation, which in turn reduces investment costs and reduces the consumption of process media.”

Knauf SAS, France, says that the company can now test many construction solutions, enabling it to guarantee its customers an optimum product with uncompromising quality. The fire-resistance test furnace enables simulation of a controlled fire source and will be used for fire resistance testing of vertical and horizontal elements of building structures at temperatures up to 2100°F.

Brandschutz Vertriebsgesellschaft GmbH International, a German supplier of fireproof materials and systems, is another company that uses Seco Warwick solutions. “For almost 50 years we have been operating in the preventive and passive fire protection industry,” says CEO Steffen Gerdau. “We believe that by starting cooperation with Seco Warwick, we will provide our customers with the most optimum solutions of the highest quality
